Terms of Service

You must be at least 13 years old, or older if your country requires it, to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service, and buy a paid plan, with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

Give us accurate information, keep your sign-in details secure and don’t share your account with others. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Let us know if you think someone else has accessed it.

We may change, add or remove features, or suspend or discontinue the Service or any part of it, at any time. We do not promise that the Service will always be available or free of errors.

The Service is free to use up to certain usage limits. We set these limits at our discretion and may change them at any time.

A paid plan lifts these limits, subject to fair use. Fair use means use in line with an individual learning languages for themselves; we may limit use beyond that or use that puts unusual strain on the Service.

Paid plans are charged in advance and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the Service or through the app store you bought from, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. We may change our prices; a change applies from your next billing period, and we will tell you before it does.

Except where the law or the rules of the app store you bought from require otherwise, payments are non-refundable, including for partly used periods.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may withdraw from a purchase within 14 days without giving a reason. If you asked for your paid plan to start within that period, we may keep a proportionate amount for the time you had it.

Much of the content in the Service, such as definitions, translations, examples and exercises, is generated by artificial intelligence. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or inappropriate, and it is not a professional translation or advice. Check anything important before you rely on it. Other users may receive the same or similar content.

You keep any rights you have in what you enter into the Service, such as your lookups and flashcards. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it to operate, secure and improve the Service. You are responsible for what you enter, and it must not break the law or anyone’s rights.

You agree not to:

• use the Service to break the law or violate anyone’s rights;
• access the Service with bots, scrapers or other automated means, or copy, resell or systematically extract its content;
• get around usage limits, for example by creating multiple accounts;
• share, sell or transfer your account;
• use the Service or its content to build a competing product or to train AI models;
• reverse engineer, disrupt or overload the Service, or try to gain unauthorized access to it;
• enter harmful, abusive or illegal content, or try to make the AI produce it.

We may suspend, restrict or close your account, or refuse you access to the Service, at any time and at our sole discretion, with or without notice. Common reasons include a breach of these Terms, use that creates risk or legal exposure for us or others, long inactivity, or the Service being discontinued. If we close your account without cause while you have an active paid plan, we will refund the unused part of the current period where the law requires it.

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, such as those on liability, continue to apply.

The Service, including its software, design and content other than yours, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable and revocable right to use it in line with these Terms. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or opportunities. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose or USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent, gross negligence or injury to life, body or health, or your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.

To the extent permitted by law, you will indemnify us against any claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know in the Service or by email before they take effect. By continuing to use the Service afterwards, you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which we are established, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring claims in its courts.

These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don’t enforce a right, we don’t give it up. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms; you may not transfer yours without our consent.
